Messi, France, and the FIFA World Cup Final

18-12-2022 – An outlandish display of euphoria. Emotions rose high in the Asian weather, and the splendid Qatari ambiance. The excitement. The nervousness. A game of 90 minutes, split into two halves of 45 minutes each. This particular one has wiggled out of its standard definition, and it has taken on sensational attributes. This FIFA world cup final has defied imagination. It has exceeded expectations. Crackling. Sparkling. Dazzling. Nerve-racking display of soaring footballing competence. It will take off into its own life, becoming unusually lively and perhaps even delighted by its own whim. THE FIFA WORLD CUP FINAL!!!

In pubs, classrooms, and offices, people will talk forever about that night- that stellar night in Lusail, Qatar.  People will talk about how Messi- in all magnificence and distinction propelled Argentina to their 3rd world cup triumph. Folks will laud Kylian “the bold” Mbappe for how he changed the contest so that you had to commend the loser as well. And children will forever talk about the final that produced 6 goals- more than any final in history. Argentines will praise Martinez, the hero, who stood tall in goal, keeping goals out in service to the Argentines’ grand conquest.  Men will talk about Scaloni, people will praise Deschamps, and people will say ‘truly, this is a contest worth the hype’.

and it continues

Among the technically savvy fans, there would be arguments about tactics and nifty managerial decisions. They would talk of Scaloni’s technical brilliance starting Angel Di Maria, who constantly created havoc on the left side of the french defense. He caused a penalty, which Messi converted while he himself got on the scoresheet minutes later. Or perhaps they will discuss the substitutes made by France in the 41st minute, which included the tremendous energy of 24-year-old Randal Kolo Muani and 25-year-old Marcus Thuram. The game included a sliver of justice, as Argentina’s Gonzalo Montiel, whose play of the ball with his arm in the 118th minute led to a penalty and a goal from Mbappé that tied the score and delayed a victory 10 minutes after Messi had scored and appeared to have just gotten one, ended up securing that victory with the final penalty kick.

“Montiel… Argentina, champions of the world. Again. At last. And the nation will tango all night long. 36 years ago since Maradona and Mexico, here finally is a nation’s new throng of immortals. Scaloni will be fated, Messi will be sainted” – Peter Drury.

Messi, Argentina, and the World Cup Final

This is not just about Messi. This is about every believer, every fan, every supporter, every fan-boy, and also, the fan girl who dreamt of this day.  The sweat of football gladiators, who wear jerseys instead of armor, and kick balls instead of drawing swords.

All eyes will now turn to the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the hosts of the 2026 world cup. A different ambiance, another culture, same sport. Pressure will now mount upon these countries to replicate Qatar’s achievements. We will talk about this in 2026. Meanwhile, Argentina, the WORLD CHAMPIONS will savor the next 4 years. These events will have a huge place in their history.
More footballing action will continue around the world. Don’t miss any bit of it. Pay your TV Subscriptionbuy electricity units now with VTpass, and stay connected.

BBNaija ShineYaEye Reunion Final

The BBNaija ShineYaEye Reunion Final episode aired on Friday night, 17th of June. Whoosh! It’s been quite the ride. This particular housemates have divided opinions so much. Some are sad to see the show end, while others are glad it’s finally over. Hmm. Truth is, they gave content. Whether it was good or bad is left for you to decide, but they brought the game. There was something to talk about everyday on the reunion show. Call it an escape from your normal routine. Well, it’s finally over, whichever side of the divide you fall on. Here’s our take on the BBNaija ShineYaEye Reunion Final talking points.

WhiteMoney, Maria, Pere and Tega

Ebuka asked the housemates who changed the most after the show in their opinion, and most of them voted WhiteMoney. Shocked, are we? Those who did speak said in the house he was this caring person, and suddenly, outside the house, he became this person who was too busy, or who didn’t care anymore. Ah, well. What we can say is that dude’s strategy obviously worked. He’s too busy making bangers as the musical genius that he is right? Init?

Following that, Peace relayed a situation where Maria walked up to her outside the house about something her fans said. Home girl Maria instantly said she couldn’t recall the incident and if Peace said it happened, then she doesn’t know what to say. All I can say is omo, fear Maria o.

After that, Tega called Pere out for not defending her during the media rounds. He apparently didn’t want to get involved in the drama. Tega was definitely emosh. Her voice when she said “But I begged you.” See where game has ended up sha.

Emmanuel, Liquorose, Cross and Angel, Beatrice and Pere

On the other hand, Emmanuel stated that he never asked Liquorose out, and what they were was never defined. Liquor however rebuffed that to say that it was defined. “Shame on you bro” was the highlight of that exchange, with Liquorose going on to explain the vibe they had. Well, that ship has clearly sunk.

Cross and Angel were back at it. What have you done for me, I did this for your family. This their fight, I don’t know what to think about it honestly. What are you guys even dragging? Can you just rest since you’re not doing again?

It is worth mentioning that Beatrice says she can have Pere anytime she wants him because she is a beautiful lady. Pere said that confidence is attractive. I don’t know what to think. Lol. Are you playing? What kind of playing is this?

And The Rest…

Cross said he would go back into the house if he had another chance. Because there are bills to pay in the outside world. This guy! True though, we know you have bills, and that’s why we’re here. To take care of your Cable TV paymentselectricity billsairtime and data needs, insurance and education bills and more, all on VTpass!

Ebuka, in closing the show, did say that they were the best dressed housemates on the reunion show since it started. We can’t dispute that though. lol. He also did say that despite a lot of the word out there (that they were boring), this season recorded the most votes so far in a BBNaija season. So what you guys talking about? Anyways, Season 7 is coming up, you know who to trust with your bills payments so you don’t miss out on any of the content live.

Special Children’s Day Message For You

As we celebrate Children’s Day today, we are reminded of the times when we would build castles in the sand. Those times we spent with Baba Dudu and Sisi Pelebe, Pako, Digestive and Coconut biscuits…

Reminded of times where we were not weighed down by the weight of responsibility. Times we could run out and play in the rain. Times we dreamt of growing older fast so we would be “big boys and girls.”

The golden age. We had no worries. We had no problems. Food was always available as at when due. We had shows like Cadbury breakfast to look forward to on Saturday mornings. Care Bear was one of the top cartoons around. We may not have had it all, but we had enough. Childhood memories are nostalgic. And they leave a smile on your face when you think about them.

Now, we have grown, and if we had known, we wouldn’t have grown up so fast. Now, we face the hustle and bustle of the city everyday. These days, we move about to earn a living. There are now a ton of responsibilities to handle. Bills to pay. And there’s always traffic. lol

But today, you can capture the feeling of being a child once more, because it’s Children’s Day, and if you can remember all these things, then you’ve come a long way! Childhood is golden. Cherish it. And teach your kids also to cherish it. Subsequently, it’s all gone before you know it.

Now, we can no longer do a lot of these things, but, we can take a moment today to appreciate the beauty of childhood, and the fact that 20 years on from now, we would miss these times too. But till then…

Simply log on to vtpass.com now, pay your bills, and celebrate your childhood for the rest of the day

7 Unique Valentine Activities for Couples: 2021

Our team put together a brilliant video just for you!

Another valentine is just around the corner and as usual, couples feel that knowing pressure of making it extra-special. Something about trying to out-do the previous year’s valentine keeps couples from truly doing what really matters.

But valentine doesn’t have to be a Big-Bang, dazzling event that drains the bank account. While spoiling each other with expensive gifts and treats are still fanciful, spending quality time is all that counts.

And no, we are not talking about the cliché restaurant outings alone; here are 7 unique valentine activities you can try this year:

unique valentine activities

1. Give each other a massage

You know that feeling of lying in bed and having some strong or soft fingers work out the knots in your shoulders and feet? Yeah! Why not relinquish that this valentine?

You can give your partner a sweet massage for 30 minutes or so, with oils and soft background music. Then lay back, close your eyes and let them do the same to you.

2. Take a long bath together in a tub

When you and your partner at that level of your relationship, bathing together might not sound unique. But here is something to spice things up.

Place candles or spotlights at attractive places around the bathtub, get a bowl of strawberries, a tray of chocolate, and a chilled bottle of champaign; all at arms’ length. Have a long, hot, tub bath together, while munching on sweets and champaign.

unique valentine activities

3. Have a romantic movie marathon

We gave an example of a movie marathon in a previous post. Since this year’s valentine falls on a Sunday, it makes for a great escape from reality and into the entertainment of tons of movies.

Be sure to have popcorn, drinks, and each other during this marathon; and make time for desserts and in-house lunch or dinner between movies.

4. Play a game together

When was the last time you two played a game just for two? It might be something classic as a Ludo or Whot, or something deeper like a Truth or Dare game.

If both of you are outdoor champs, this might be the perfect day to race each other to a stadium, play snooker, table tennis, or go swimming.

unique valentine activities

5. Try a new kitchen special

Cooking together is always perfect for Valentine. However, instead of making what you already know, why not try something new and special for both of you?

The internet is overflowing with exciting dishes for valentine from every part of the world. Set today to try that special Thai cuisine or French salad; as far as the ingredients are within reach.

6. Drive around town

You don’t have to have a destination in mind. Just gas up the car, hop in and drive! If you are in Lagos, check out places to visit.

There is that fun of plying roads you both have never plied before, getting lost in a city and finding your way back. Yeah!

Good thing is, you can always crash into a new restaurant or park to eat or catch fun, then zoom off again. Luckily, Google Map now makes drive-around safe and superfun.

7. Work together on a new craft or art

Creative couples with busy-hands may want to create something together this day; whatever it is. From making a photo-scrapbook to splash painting, sketching each other, or even making a toy.

Anything at all.

Poetry is yet another art. Have you ever wondered what you’d write your partner if given a pen and 24 hours of thinking? Why not game each other with this one and have each person submit their poem to the other, at the end of the day.

Valentine is always a great day for couples to embrace the company of each other, especially with uninterrupted services.

That is where VTpass comes into play. No need running helter-skelter trying to pay bills to light-up the special day. Simply log on to vtpass.com to buy airtime/data, subscribe GOtv, DStv, or Startimes, or pay electricity bills . . . it’s as easy as Login, Select, and Pay!

Happy Valentine. Enjoy!

Evicted! Keeping Up With BBNaija Eviction (2)

A lot has happened since our last blog post in the BBNaija eviction series. If you’re looking for snippets and pecks into the latest house events, you can always find a pile on Twitter trends. Here, we prefer to wait, gather in the gist and dish it out with clear backup stories; just as you like it.

5 more housemates have left the lockdown house since our last post. Some were evicted singularly, but last night, Biggie gave us that “What?” moment with 3 housemates axed at once.

Here are the latest ex-housemate, and the story behind their eviction from BBNaija 2020:

BBNaija eviction

Kaisha

Ahh, this one pained many. The beautiful northern lady was the fifth housemate to taste Biggie’s axe after falling into the bottom four for possible eviction.

However there was a twist. Kaisha was evicted even after statistics showed that she had more votes than Neo, Trickytee and Wathoni. Fans all over Twitter questioned the authenticity of the votes, but Biggie’s mind was already made up. The lady was out.

BBNaija eviction

Praise

Cool, calm and calculated, Praise was the 6th to leave the house. The 28 years old erotic dancer got the spoon after gathering the least votes out of the four housemates up for eviction 2 weeks ago.

We really got nothing on praise. The guy has been flowing all through with other housemates. It’s only down to shortage of voting fans outside the house.

BBNaija eviction

Tolanibaj

Girl said she would be “missed at Saturday night parties” and we believe her. Tolanibaj had always set the Guiness Saturday night party’s dance floor on fire with her moves and groove. Surely, she would be missed.

Tolanibaj tasted BBNaija eviction after gearing up just 3.57% of total votes from viewers last week. Much to viewers’ dismay, the romantic spark that started between her and Prince days back would never blosom.

Wathoni

Our Kenyan beauty followed Tolanibaj out of the house just seconds after. The shock was written all over her face! But Wathoni stated the week before that she was tired of the house and wihsed to go home. Would we say she got what she wished for?

It doesn’t seem like it. Just days back, she and Brighto began to connect romanticall. She even said she would not allow a fellow female housemate, Dorathy, to take Brighto away from her. Oh well, viewers votes said otherwise.

Brighto

Believe us, this one shocked everyone. Our very own Lord Belish got evicted after summoning only 2.68% of viewers’ votes. No body actually saw this coming but Biggie has his twists. Brighto followed his bestie, Wathoni out of the house seconds after she left.

Named Lord Belish after a popular cunning character from the HBO series, Game of Thrones, Brighto made a name for himself in the house by secretly adding pepper and fire to other housemates situations. He would surely be missed!

The thrice certified engineer said he would be looking forward to adding more professional certificates to his name as he is more of a career person.

Biggie have now evicted 9 housemates, leaving 11 to contest for the grand price of N85 million. Don’t miss an action, VTpass got you covered.

Celebrating Workers’ Day in the Lockdown

. . .holiday that doesn’t feel like a holiday

The 1st of May of every year is officially recognized as a holiday for government workers and employees of certain private companies whose management granted the day off to celebrate Worker’s Day.

The same applies to Nigeria where workers greatly appreciate the 24-hours break they get from work, especially when it comes in the middle of the week or on a Friday.

Established on May 1st, 1890 after the International Congress of Socialist Parties in Europe on July 14th, 1889 proclaimed the first of every May as “Workers Day of International Unity and Solidarity”, the Worker’s day holiday has come a long way with a long history attached.

However, this year’s Worker’s day comes to us with no excitement as workers simply aren’t in the holiday mood.

With the recent COVID-19 outbreak that has forced governments to temporarily shut down economies, increase spendings on health and security, and enforced the ‘Stay At Home’ rule, workers are feeling less enthusiastic to spend one more day on holiday. Everyone wants to return to work as soon as possible, making the famous May Day look like something we would rather scrap off the calenders.

Health workers during the lockdown

Those in the frontline of our battle against the pandemic might have a different feeling. Health workers, security personals and those offering essential services might not get the day off today as their services are of extreme importance to everyone at this period. They are the ones truly in need of 2020’s May Day.

Twitter and Facebook have been exploding with compliments and appreciation of workers in these lines and it is only necessary we show more of these appreciations. We simply cannot do without our health workers and other essential service providers at this moment.

So here we are, celebrating a holiday that doesn’t feel like a holiday. Our only hope is to swiftly overcome the disease that has paralyzed the world this long so that when next we celebrate May Day, everyone can look back to 2020 and appreciate the importance of man’s service to man.

As part of our appreciation of workers, VTpass remains committed to providing top-notch services as regards stress-free, convenient bills payment, so you can focus on doing things that really matter to you.
