Following a strong year for Bayern Munich last season, experts are predicting the German against might bag themselves yet another UEFA Champions League title; that is if they continue playing as they are currently.

The early 8-0 trashing of strong rivals, Schalke last week already shows Bayern’s intent. And with a solid squad of young talents, an ambitious coach and passionate fans, those predictions might just come true.

Liverpool on the hot seat

Evicted! Keeping Up With BBNaija Eviction (2)

A lot has happened since our last blog post in the BBNaija eviction series. If you’re looking for snippets and pecks into the latest house events, you can always find a pile on Twitter trends. Here, we prefer to wait, gather in the gist and dish it out with clear backup stories; just as you like it.

5 more housemates have left the lockdown house since our last post. Some were evicted singularly, but last night, Biggie gave us that “What?” moment with 3 housemates axed at once.

Here are the latest ex-housemate, and the story behind their eviction from BBNaija 2020:

Kaisha

Ahh, this one pained many. The beautiful northern lady was the fifth housemate to taste Biggie’s axe after falling into the bottom four for possible eviction.

However there was a twist. Kaisha was evicted even after statistics showed that she had more votes than Neo, Trickytee and Wathoni. Fans all over Twitter questioned the authenticity of the votes, but Biggie’s mind was already made up. The lady was out.

Praise

Cool, calm and calculated, Praise was the 6th to leave the house. The 28 years old erotic dancer got the spoon after gathering the least votes out of the four housemates up for eviction 2 weeks ago.

We really got nothing on praise. The guy has been flowing all through with other housemates. It’s only down to shortage of voting fans outside the house.

Tolanibaj

Girl said she would be “missed at Saturday night parties” and we believe her. Tolanibaj had always set the Guiness Saturday night party’s dance floor on fire with her moves and groove. Surely, she would be missed.

Tolanibaj tasted BBNaija eviction after gearing up just 3.57% of total votes from viewers last week. Much to viewers’ dismay, the romantic spark that started between her and Prince days back would never blosom.

Wathoni

Our Kenyan beauty followed Tolanibaj out of the house just seconds after. The shock was written all over her face! But Wathoni stated the week before that she was tired of the house and wihsed to go home. Would we say she got what she wished for?

It doesn’t seem like it. Just days back, she and Brighto began to connect romanticall. She even said she would not allow a fellow female housemate, Dorathy, to take Brighto away from her. Oh well, viewers votes said otherwise.

Brighto

Believe us, this one shocked everyone. Our very own Lord Belish got evicted after summoning only 2.68% of viewers’ votes. No body actually saw this coming but Biggie has his twists. Brighto followed his bestie, Wathoni out of the house seconds after she left.

Named Lord Belish after a popular cunning character from the HBO series, Game of Thrones, Brighto made a name for himself in the house by secretly adding pepper and fire to other housemates situations. He would surely be missed!

The thrice certified engineer said he would be looking forward to adding more professional certificates to his name as he is more of a career person.

Evicted! Keeping Up with BBNaija Eviction Night (1)

The on-going Big Brother Naija (Lockdown) Season 5 has been everything but boring. From housemates‘ romance to in-house fights and interesting games and tasks. But no-one is watching the show for fights and romance alone, who does that? Housemates’ eviction is part of BBNaija sauce and as expected, hot sauce has been served.

This year, Biggie seems to be interested in serving it two-by-two. First, we had two ladies evicted from the house two weeks ago, then two guys followed suit last Sunday.

Here are the stories behind the evictions and who the ex-housemates are:

Ka3na

The single mom and dreamer of a fashion empire was the first to get Big Brother’s spoon. After falling behind other housemates in terms of getting only 1.28% of the viewer’s vote, she was evicted from the house.

Bad rumors have it that she had something with fellow housemate, Praise, before her eviction. Well, rumor it is, rumor it shall be.

Lilo

Beautiful 23-years old dietician got served the sauce along with Ka3na in the first eviction night. With only 1.52% of votes from viewers, she got evicted from the house.

A week before that; she had a conversation with Big Brother in the Diary Room about her romantic relationship with fellow housemate, Eric. Save to say, that wasn’t enough to save her from the BBNaija eviction.

Eric

Coming third just behind his trending in-house girlfriend is Eric. The fitness instructor was nominated for eviction with only 1.37% votes. However, he was the most talked-about housemate on Twitter right after eviction with over 18,000 mentions.

Eric really made waves when he was caught on camera enjoying noddles the very night his bestie, Lilo got evicted. No joy, no joy.

Tochi

Okay, this one came as a freaking surprise to many. The 28 years old rapper from Imo state followed Eric out of the house on Sunday night after Biggie served his sauce.

While Tochi was known for his calmness and long stories, viewers claimed he didn’t have enough content to pull the votes. I’m going to especially miss him, but, well; the show must go on!

Champions League Resumes 7th August, Finally

When major football leagues (EPL, La Liga, Seria A, and Bundesliga) resumed; fans got their tint of hope of possible Champions league resumption. Although the date of resumption was announced by UEFA 3 months ago, the feeling of ‘it’s finally here!’ can’t be really shaken off.

After a five-months hiatus due to the global pandemic, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League resume August 7th, 2020 in order to play out the pending matches of this troubled season.

However, things would take a different shape. UEFA set out two mini competitions to solved the puzzle of travelling amidst the pandemic. Uncompleted round of 16 matches would be played out in host stadiums on 7th and 8th of August. Then from 12th August, all roads lead to Lisbon, Portugal where quarter-final matches would be played in knockout form. Oops, no home and away.

Here’s a timeline of UEFA Champions League activities:

7-8 August: Round of 16-second legs (host home stadiums)
12-15 August: Quarter-finals (Lisbon)
18-19 August: Semi-finals (Lisbon)
23 August: Final (Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Lisbon)

Barcelona vs Napoli: It was honors when this two first met in a 1-1 draw at Naples. The Spanish giants would be at home advantage when they host Napoli at the Camp Nau
Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Current Spanish champions fell at home to City in the firs encounter. They face an uphill task coming back against Gurdiola’s men at the Etihad.
Juventus vs Lyon: Lyon leads 1-0 in this encounter. The men from Turin would be better prepared to host their opponent who play away this time around.
Bayern vs Chelsea: This is perhaps the center of attention. With Chelsea trailing 3-0 from the first leg; it’s looking bleak for the Blues when they finally face Bayern in Germany.

Brighto

Ezekiel Bright Osemudiame, 29-year-old, is a sailor from Edo state. He speaks Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and Edo languages fluently. He’s a lover of swimming, traveling, and adventure. His biggest achievement was when he got a scholarship to study abroad plus his third engineering license.

Lucy

30-year-old Lucy Essien says she lights up every room she enters. She is an entrepreneur who believes in fairytales, loves good food, and likes her space.

Nengi

Rebecca Hampson is a formal model turned entrepreneur. At 22-year-old, she is a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt. Haven made it to top 5 in MBGN competition, she wants people to look past her beauty.

Praise

Praise Nelson 28-year-old is a dance instructor and a male erotic dancer. He was a winner at the 2015 K Pop World Festival in South Korea. He is also a fitness trainer and certified Latin ballroom expert.

Vee

Born and raised in London, Victoria Adeyele AKA Vee, is a 23-year old beauty who loves music. In an early discussion with a housemate, she revealed she decided not to study at a university because she wanted to focus on music.

Eric

Eric Akhigbe, a final year student at the University of Lagos is a fitness instructor. He loves competitive sports and derives pleasure from completing tasks.

Laycon

Olamilekan Agbeleshe AKA Laycon is a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Lagos. The 26-year old is equally a rapper and singer currently signed to Fierce Nation record label. His greatest achievement is ‘Fierce’ that has been in MTV Base Top 10 charts for 10 months.

Ka3na

Kate Jones is a single mom of a beautiful daughter who claims her aim in the house is to promote her brand, not to look for love. She dreams to be famous and to own the biggest fashion brand in the world.

TrickyTee

Timmy Sinclair is a 35-year-old creative artist from Bayelsa state. He considers himself a storyteller who uses the medium of film and music to express himself. He claims he will be causing a lot of trouble with his outspokenness.

Dorothy

This one is hot! 24-year-old Dorathy Bachor started trending on Twitter the moment she graced the screen. She is an entrepreneur whose greatest achievement is SHOPFORME, a big procurement company in Nigeria.

Ozo

Ozoemena Chukwu is a 27-year-old entrepreneur from Imo state. The guy is handsome with his biceps, height, and light skin tone. His biggest achievement is working in UEFA Federation for Europe.

Tolanibaj

Tolani Shobajo AKA Tolanibaj is a media personality who is in the house for the money. A proud Marlian, the 27-year-old says she is the life of the party and she loves to cook.

Lilo

Boluwatife Aderogba is a goal-driven lady who likes to be in charge. At 23 years old, she is a Lagos-based dietitian. She doesn’t like people been all up in her business. Her biggest achievement is starting her brand.

Kiddwaya

This guy whose full name is Terseer Kiddwaya, hates spiders. He says his confidence is often mistaken for arrogance. Hailing from Benue state, he is self-employed and hopes to bring a lot of fun into the house.

Wathoni

Her full name is Florence Wathoni Anyansi and she is half Kenyan, half Nigerian. She speaks and writes in Swahili perfectly. The 29-year-old single mom is a fashion entrepreneur who owns a parenting blog. She loves music and is in the house to gain fans and to find love.

Kaisha

Aisha Umaru Kaisha is the only northerner in the house. She hails from Sokoto state and owns a skincare business. At 25 years old, she describes herself as a hardworking lady who gets along with people. She loves to sing and dance.

Tochi

Tochukwu Okechukwu is 28 rapper and a real estate agent from Imo state. He is a lover of entertainment and promises to bring a lot of fun and drama to the house. His biggest achievement is his independency.

Erica

A graduate of MET film school, London, Ngozi Nlewedim Erica is an actress and a commercial model. She also says she is bringing a lot of good vibes to the house. What more do we expect from the model who loves to dance in front of the mirror alone?

Prince

Nelson Enwerem by name, the 24-year-old Prince is a native of Abia state. He is into interior decoration, fashion designing, and modeling. He has promised to show us some dance moves at Friday night parties; we can’t wait to see that!

It’s been all hot. Real hot; since MultiChoice announced in June that the 5th season of the Big Brother Naija (bbnaija) reality TV show premieres on July 19th, 2020.

Pulses have risen, eyes raised, hands robbing together as millions of fans wonder what to expect from this year’s edition.

1. Bigger Prize Money

When the show organizers claimed that this year’s prize money was going to be bigger, they weren’t joking. A whopping N85 million awaits the King or Queen who conquers the house. N85 million!

We shouldn’t be surprised to see health workers in the house performing health screenings or frequently disinfecting the house in the course of the show. This should be fun.

However, we wouldn’t see any live audience at the Sunday eviction show or external visitors like celebrities or BBNaija Ninjas in the house this year. Ouch.

Carefully tested measures have been put in place to ensure minimal contact with outsiders once the housemates enter the house.

3. Dramatic relationship, intense friendship zoning

Oh-my-god relationships, wow friendships, hahaha fights; these are the little things that keep us glued to the show.

We have seen several relationships in previous seasons and some definitely led to marriage. Teddy A and BamBam got married last year and gave us our Big Brother Naija baby.

Yeah, we know some relationships didn’t end so well, but it’s always exciting witnessing the build-up process. Season 5 wouldn’t be any different!

4. More fun games, unpredictable twists

BBNaija without the mind twists is definitely not BBNaija. Last year, just when the housemates thought that they have seen more than enough, Big Brother brought in five more housemates in just one week. The introduction of Venita, Elozonam, Enkay, Joe, and Cindy definitely spiced things up.

What about the Ultimate Veto Power given to housemates to nominate other housemates for possible eviction?

When it comes to games, BBNaija sure got it. Perhaps Betway or Guinness Nigeria would put together one of those games that always leads to drama and exciting conversations thereafter.

5. Nerve-pulling Diary sessions

Every season, there are always housemates we refer to them as the Kings and Queens of the Diary room. We always look forward to their sessions.

Omoshola in 2019 (PepperDem) was definitely a King of the Diary room. His sessions were hilarious, exciting, and interesting to watch. He didn’t care if he was using pidgin English and English at the same time or how funny what he said could sound, he just had to say his mind.

Surely, contestants coming into the house this season understands what the diary room means and would be hoping to make the most of it. More entertainment for us! The rule is simple: “say your mind”.

Bonus – A Possible Crossdresser?

This one almost broke the internet, so we decided to make it a bonus. A Nigerian crossdresser known as Jay Boogie took to his Instagram account to ask for a social media account manager as he was going into the house.

For real? Some people affirmed this information was true, others claimed they were lies. Well, we would leave it at that and see what the house brings.

Fans of the Barclay’s Premier League are in for a treat tonight as the league official resumes; after 100 days hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 92 games left to play would be packed into 40 days which would see the current season end by 26 July. Aston Villa v Sheffield United will kick off the English top-flight’s return; however, it’s the match between Manchester City and Arsenal tonight that got fans in a frenzy.

Here are a few things you need as the action returns:

No 12th man

As with Bundesliga and La Liga, all matches would be played behind closed doors. Not more than 300 people (staff, players, tech crew, etc.) would be allowed into stadiums. However, teams are setting virtual fans in place to ensure TV viewing isn’t boring at all.

One-minute silence

To remember all those who died during the pandemic, one-minute silence would be observed before the starting of each game.

No Players’ names on shirts for a while

For the first 12 matches after resumption, players’ names on their shirts would be replaced with ‘Black Lives Matter‘ to commemorate with the death of George Floyd and the campaign against racism.

Liverpool eyes the trophy after 30 years

The Reds sits 25 points clear off second-place Manchester City and are 3 wins away from been crowned EPL Champions 2019/2020 season. Liverpool would most definitely be full of action as they campaign to clinch the trophy for the first time since 1990.

Fight for Top-4

All eyes would be fixed on Manchester United and Chelsea as each battle for a place in the top four. Ahead of both is Leicester City and Manchester City and below them, just 2 points under United is the formidable Wolves.

Social distancing and other hygiene

Players would have to maintain social-distancing during goal celebrations. They are not to spit, shake hands, or come near referees. Coaching staff on the sidelines are equally under instruction not to come within two meters of the fourth official.

La Liga Resumes June 11: Here’s What to Expect and Where to Watch

It has been 82 days since La liga suspended fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic with 11 games left to play. We are all curious about where to watch the games to be played.

LaLiga announced the Spanish top-flight would resume on June 11 starting with a derby match between Sevilla and Real Betis. Matches would take place every day across five weeks so that the season can come to an end by the 19th of July.

Tight Race for the Title

It’s not over yet at the top of the table as Barcelona sits only two points away from Real Madrid. The men in white beat their long time rivals 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu to climb on top of the table; only to lose their position again to Barca when they lost to formidable Real Sociedad.

Sevilla remains in hot pursuit with only 9 points behind Madrid and one point away from Real Sociedad. 3 straight losses for any of Barcelona or Madrid within 11 games could hand the trophy to teams in third or fourth position.

The race is on! Anything can happen.

Quite Grounds

Games would very much be played behind closed doors and this would greatly transform the usual electrifying atmosphere of Spanish football.

For clubs with 60,000+ capacity like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Athletico Madrid, the quite grounds would tell on players’ mentality as well as clubs’ finance.

For clubs with smaller capacity but powerful fan-pulled atmospheres like Real Betis and Athletico Bilbao, home games might be a bit boring to watch; not counting how badly this would affect players’ spirit.

Injury Returns

Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard who underwent surgery on a broken foot in March and Barcelona’s top ace, Luis Suarez who operated his right knee in January are both set to return fully for the rest of the games.

The injuries would have seen them out for the rest of the season had it been the suspension never happened. Now they would play out the season with their teammates. The question remains: how would these heavyweights players influence the game for their respective clubs?

Athletico Madrid fight for Top-4

Atletico Madrid’s momentous win over Liverpool in the Champions League offered Diego Simeone some relief after a disappointing season in LaLiga.

His team sits sixth in the table, having long fallen out of the reckoning for the title. They now fight to even qualify for the 2020/2021 Champions League.

Ahead of them between fifth and third are Getafe, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla; all of who are in top form with only two points between the four. Atletico cannot afford to be complacent.

Pressure at the Bottom

For teams at the other end of the table, things aren’t looking all bright. Espanyol looks doomed, sitting in the 20th spot, six points adrift of safety.

In 18th place is Leganes who still has to play away at Barcelona before hosting Real Madrid. Two tough matches that can blow them off.

One point separates Mallorca, Celta Vigo, and Eibar, all of whom are not completely safe from the relegation zone. For all of them, the pressure is on.

Race for the Golden boot

Lionel Messi remains in contention for the league top scorer award with teammate Suarez and Madrid’s sharpshooter, Karim Benzema. Hmmmn, we just can’t wait to see the goals heap in again!
