Important Update: AEDC TID Rollover Starting July 1st, 2024

Starting July 1st, 2024, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will implement a crucial update known as TID Rollover. This update requires all AEDC customers to update their prepaid meters by inputting a pair of Key Change Tokens (KCT) issued by AEDC. Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth transition:.

How the TID Rollover Update Works:

  1. Load All Previously Generated Tokens: First, before July 1st, 2024, make sure to load all previously purchased or old energy tokens into your meter. If not loaded by this date, any tokens will be rejected by the meter, so it’s important to take action now.
  2. Vend as Usual: Next, continue purchasing your electricity credit as you normally would. From July 1st onwards, the system will automatically generate the necessary key change tokens for the update. Consequently, when you buy energy after this date, you will receive three sets of tokens: the first two are KCT, and the third is your purchased energy. Conveniently, you can get your electricity tokens from VTpass.
  3. Enter Key Change Tokens: Then, input the Key Change Tokens (KCT) one at a time into your meter, followed by the third energy credit token. This process will complete your meter upgrade, ensuring that your prepaid meter continues to function smoothly.

Steps to Update Your Meter:

  1. Load all previously generated tokens:
    • Firstly, make sure you have loaded all your previously purchased or old energy tokens into your meter before the deadline.
    • Since any token not loaded by July 1st, 2024, will be rejected by the meter, ensure you complete this step on time.
  2. Purchase electricity as usual from VTpass:
    • From July 1st onwards, continue to purchase your electricity credit as you normally would.
    • Consequently, the system will generate the required key change tokens automatically.
    • With each purchase, you will receive three sets of tokens: the first two are Key Change Tokens (KCT), and the third is your purchased energy token.
  3. Enter the tokens:
    • Enter the Key Change Tokens (KCT) one at a time into your meter.
    • Finally, input the third energy credit token to complete the upgrade process.

This update is essential for the smooth functioning of your prepaid meter. It ensures that your electricity supply remains uninterrupted and your meter remains up-to-date with the latest technology.

For any questions or further assistance, please contact AEDC customer support. They are available to help you navigate this update and ensure a seamless transition.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and ensure your meter is updated before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation.
